Navigating
Drag to rotate. Right-click drag (or two-finger drag) to pan. Scroll or pinch to zoom.
The compass shows which way you're facing — click it to snap back to north-up. Recenter returns to the default view. Plan View switches to a straight-down, north-up reading of the massing.
Reading a building
Click any building for its real PLUTO record — address, BBL, land use, year built, recorded height and floor count, lot area, and how much of its allowed zoning capacity is actually built.
Color modes
Land Use — the lot's recorded use category. FAR Use — how built-out a lot is relative to what zoning allows there. Year Built — construction era. Neighborhood — colored by real NYC Neighborhood Tabulation Area boundaries; switching to this mode the first time loads the full neighborhood geometry, which can take a few seconds.
Click any item in the legend to hide that category from the view — click again to bring it back. "Show all" / "Hide all" toggles everything at once.
Zoning envelope
The translucent volume above a building is its unbuilt allowed capacity — real lot area × the greatest of its residential, commercial, or community-facility FAR, compared against what's actually built there.
Major streets
Toggle avenue-width-and-up streets on for orientation — useful for placing yourself relative to real cross streets while rotated or zoomed in close.
Finding a neighborhood
Use the neighborhood search box to jump straight to a named area (e.g. Hell's Kitchen) instead of browsing its whole borough — every real lot in that neighborhood loads, with no 15,000-lot cap. Clear the search to return to borough view.
About the data
Real NYC PLUTO tax lot records and Building Footprints, from NYC Open Data — one volume per real lot, not a model. Boroughs load one at a time, capped at 15,000 lots each for performance; a searched neighborhood loads in full, uncapped.
